How we help
The International Rescue Committee works with people affected by conflict or disaster, often forced to flee their homes, always vulnerable.
We protect health and provide education in emergencies. We protect children caught up in war at home, in camps or with hosts. We help protect women and girls at risk of violence and abuse. And we work to protect rights in all our work.
When conflict turns to peace we help to consolidate that peace to stop war breaking out again. We help rebuild economies, prepare people to regain their livelihoods or develop new ones, and help communities implement structures for development.
Our following programmes are made possible by generous funding from the European Commission Humanitarian Department: flood recovery and services for refugees in Afghanistan; health care in Central African Republic; health care and services for refugees in Chad; violence prevention in the Democratic Republic of Congo; services for IDPs in Côte d'Ivoire; earthquake response in Haiti; education and nutrition in Kenya; health care in Liberia; sanitation services and livelihoods support in Myanmar; flood recovery and services for IDPs in Pakistan; drought response in Somalia; health care in Thailand; drought response in Uganda; and emergency health care in Zimbabwe.
