You may have joined us over the past year in our Together for Refugees campaign in association with Ben and Jerry’s, calling on the European Union to give vulnerable refugees a safe route to rebuild their lives in Europe. If so, thank you.

The main objective of our campaign was to ensure that the EU’s plan for resettling the most vulnerable refugees was as ambitious as possible and that it put the needs of refugees at its centre.

Well now it is crunch time.

Next Wednesday, on World Refugee Day 2018, ambassadors from across the EU will meet to decide whether or not to agree the text of the Union Resettlement Framework. This would lay the foundations for an ambitious, humanitarian and sustainable deal for vulnerable refugees in Europe. If the text cannot be agreed then the whole proposal may fall through and we will be back to square one.

The stakes are high and we need your help to ensure vulnerable refugees can move forward with their lives, have a roof over their heads and get back to school. Without this agreement people will be left in limbo, potentially undertaking dangerous journeys or staying in camps and other temporary accommodation for the foreseeable future.

To close the deal we need your help.  By tweeting ambassadors you are reminding them that they face a simple choice: to continue kicking the issue of resettlement into the long grass, or to grasp an opportunity to show the rest of the world what being European really stands for.
