Narrated by Mandy Patinkin: 60% of refugees worldwide live in cities and communities rather than in camps. Providing refugees cash instead of in-kind goods like blankets or food, allows aid agencies like the International Rescue Committee to reach refugees quickly and at a lower cost. Cash relief is also good for the economy. It means refugees can buy what they need from local shops, growing their communities. Most importantly, giving refugees cash gives them the power and choice to decide for themselves what they need most. This is why the IRC is committed to delivering 25% of our aid through giving cash by 2020.
